FAQ

  • Why do I need an accountant?
For the same reason you need a dentist, or a barber - some jobs just can't be done alone. Organising your financial affairs can be burdensome and time consuming, at Maurer Taxation however we aim to simplify this process for you and guide you in the right direction.
  • How much do you charge?
Every tax return is different, some more complex than others. We offer basic tax returns and advanced tax returns for individuals & businesses. For a quick quote, give us a call, we don’t increase the price based on the amount of deductions you claim. We base our fees off the schedules that need to be lodged with your return (rental schedule, business and professional etc) and the complexity of the case.
  • How long will my tax refund take to go into my bank account?
The ATO have 30 days to process your tax return, assuming they don't require more information. We usually find that an average tax refund will take 2-3 weeks from lodgement date. At Maurer Taxation, we lodge your return the same day as your appointment to ensure a speedy turn around time.
  • How long will my appointment take?
On average, a basic tax return can take about 30 minutes. If you prefer a faster service (we don't blame you, who wants to do tax all day...), let our Tax Accountant know and we can accommodate. As always however, we are trained to take the utmost skill and precision when preparing your tax return.
  • Can you prepare my tax return over email or phone?
Yes! Life is busy and we understand that. Obviously we would prefer to personally introduce ourselves so that you can get to know our friendly team, but we are completely flexible with tax return appointments. Whether it be by phone, skype, zoom, email, in-store or even us coming to you (Brisbane).
  • What should I expect to supply to my tax agent?
In order to start preparing your tax return you should expect to give us your tax file number so we can add you in as our client with the ATO. In conjunction with this, and in line with our Tax Agent responsibilities, we also require some form of ID to verify your identity. This keeps you and us safe from illegal activity. We may also request proof of substantiation (receipts, invoices etc) to verify and boost the amount of deductions you can claim.
